All Services Success Stories

Karlie Barkley

After suffering an ACL tear in her knee, Karlie Barkley, a high school soccer and track athlete, turned to us to begin her recovery. Under the guidance of our expert physical therapy team, Karlie started a rigorous rehabilitation program designed to restore strength, balance and confidence in her knee. Her recovery included exercises to improve range of motion, progressive strength training for her quadriceps and hamstrings, neuromuscular training for stability and sport-specific drills to prepare her for the demands of soccer and track. Karlie quickly became an inspiration to other patients, often turning heads with the focus and intensity she brought to every session. She stayed determined, working each day to prove to herself that she could come back stronger than ever. Now, Karlie is back on the field, stronger, faster and ready to show it.

Zachary Zavis

High school multi-sport athlete Zachary Zavis sustained a lateral collateral ligament tear in his right elbow, an injury that affects stability and movement. After surgery, he began his journey to recovery with Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist Rich Douglas. Zach's therapy included targeted strengthening exercises, range-of-motion work and specialized techniques to regain stability in his elbow. Rich also incorporated advanced technology to simulate the demands of football and baseball, accelerating Zach's recovery so he could get back on the field this fall. Zach is doing great, and we can't wait to see what he accomplishes. Thanks for putting your trust in us, Zach!

Bonnie Yearsley

After surgery, Bonnie turned to our expert, hand-therapy team. With newfound confidence in her left hand, she's back to fishing and raising the helmet of success.

Nancy LaRosa

Nancy LaRosa had a history of arthritis in her hand, primarily affecting her left thumb. It significantly impacted her motion, strength and overall functional use of her hands. After five years of tolerating her pain, she received a basal joint thumb arthroplasty on her left thumb, hoping to eliminate the pain and to use her left hand again. After surgery, Nancy started hand therapy with Occupational Therapist Justin VanOyen. Nancy couldn't open a jar, use a knife to cut food, garden, play with her grandkids or write. After six weeks of hand therapy, Nancy regained her independence with tasks at home and is back to enjoying gardening and playing with her grandchildren. Nancy said this about her experience: "The NovaCare team at Vineland was very knowledgeable, personable, kind and helpful. I enjoyed the experience here and would recommend my friends and family to NovaCare of Vineland."
