Our Team
Carmelita Deken, Patient Service Specialist
Carmelita rejoined the NovaCare P&O team in August 2018 and oversees administration functions at the Poplar Bluff location. Carmelita was a member of our team in years prior and left to pursue other interest outside the field. She is excited to return to the Poplar Bluff office location to provide patients a positive front office experience. Carmelita is responsible for a variety of administrative duties including billing, scheduling, insurance authorizations and communications. She enjoys gardening, fishing and spending time with her family and friends.
Richard Thiele, Certified Prosthetist & Orthotist
Richard is a certified and licensed prosthetist. He began his O&P career in 1980 as an entry level technician. His studied at Southeast Missouri State University and received his prosthetic education at Shelby State Community College. He received prosthetic certification in 1987 and orthotic certification in 1989. He treats all levels of prosthetic and orthotic needs, using both old school and state-of-the-art techniques. He enjoys all outdoor activities, particularly fishing and spending time with family.

Cory Baker
Cory Baker was riding his motorcycle when he said a distracted driver struck him from behind. Cory was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries and ended up losing his left leg above the knee.
"I was worried I wouldn't be able to use a prosthetic and I would be stuck on crutches," Cory said. Then he came to see Certified Prosthetist & Orthotist Richard Thiele.
"Richard did an amazing job showing me how to use a prosthetic leg," he said. "I mean, standing, walking, dancing with my wife... I got my life back."
Richard is happy he can now work, play with his kids and ride his motorcycle again. "I feel great, like I got a second chance to live life," Cory said.
