Robert James, Certified Prosthetist

Robert has been a staple in the Cape Girardeau community for almost 30 years. When he's not helping patients, Robert enjoys playing golf, spending time with family and being part of the Southeast Missouri Fair. His motivation is providing the best patient care, meeting new patients and working hard to make their lives better.

Lee Parks, Certified Orthotic Fitter

At eight months old, Lee started working with the team at our Cape Girardeau, MO location. Born with bilateral clubfeet he became a frequent patient, wearing three different styles of braces to correct his condition as well as undergoing two surgeries. Fast forward to today and Lee is still with us, but now as a member of our team as a newly certified orthotic fitter! As a certified orthotic fitter, Lee can assist patients in fitting off-the-shelf braces, diabetic shoes and inserts, compression stockings and more. Lee's motivation to come to work every morning is his dedication to excellent patient care and being able to help others in the same way he was helped. He wants to assist his patients in staying active and mobile.

Susan Fowlkes, Patient Services Specialist

Susan is the newest member of the team at NovaCare Prosthetics & Orthotics. Her main focus will be making sure patients have an excellent experience. She enjoys spending time with family, reading and enjoying the great outdoors. She is looking forward to a long and bright future with NovaCare.

Rich Haws, Manager and Certified Prosthetist Orthotist

Richard has been in the field for more than 13 years doing both orthotics and prosthetics. He is a graduate of Century College with the prosthetic practitioner program and the Newington Orthotics Program. His residencies were completed in St. Louis, MO. He has worked with pediatric orthotics and attends a clinic at Kenny Rogers CP center is Sikeston, MO. He enjoys meeting new people and the challenge of knowing that no two patients are the same.

Success Stories

Walt Rinehart

Walt Rinehart has an infectious spirit and a smile that lights up a room. This energetic toddler is playful, smart and now officially walking. Considering the average child with Down Syndrome is delayed in walking, he's off to a great start! Walt recently received SupraMalleolar Orthoses, or SMO, from our team. These custom-made devices are like braces that fit inside shoes to provide support and stability to the foot and ankle. These are often used for children with low muscle tone, a common side-effect of Down Syndrome. As a partner of the Kenny Rogers Children's Center in Sikeston, Missouri, our prosthetics and orthotics team holds sessions to create 3D-printed custom orthotics for children at the non-profit. Working closely with Walt's physical therapist, they found the best device. The SMO they chose will help Walt as he takes confident steps and shares that bright smile wherever he roams.
