Sean Fogerty

In 1977, at age 6, Sean Fogarty lost his right foot in a lawnmower accident. His first prosthesis was made of leather and steel. Later, he qualified for a new leg at Shriners Hospital, which referred Sean to our center. Sean continues to do physically taxing work regardless of his prosthetic. He enjoys working. Before coming to our center, many of Sean's concerns about his prosthesis were financial. Our center made it a priority to work with him on payment schedules. Sean says the multisite center director and certified prosthetist have helped him with adjustments and sock selection, leading Sean to receiving his best-fitting prosthetic. "I have stayed with NovaCare because of the relationship with them," he said. "I lived in Las Vegas, and although there were places there I could have gone to, I flew home to Minnesota for care." We look forward to continuing your care, Sean!

Robert Meyer

When childhood cancer had a survival rate of less than one percent in 1950, Robert Meyer beat the odds. His treatment, however, resulted in a leg amputation. Robert has never let his amputation hold him back. He played sports and worked 36 years for the United States Postal Service. The use of a prosthetic is an essential part of his life. "I could not have had the life I've had without it," said Robert. Robert has seen first-hand how technology has changed prosthetics. His first artificial limb was a peg leg, and now he uses a power knee. Robert has been working with us for more than 20 years. Currently, he sees Sharon Kelly, certified prosthetist. "She goes out of her way for whatever is needed for people." We celebrate the decades-lasting impact our team has had for Robert. Thank you for your continuous trust in our care.

Cheryl Tukua

Cheryl became an amputee at the age of 28 after her knee was crushed during an accident on the family farm. Despite attempts, doctors were unable to save her leg. After her amputation, Cheryl continued to work on the family farm. She loves horses and wanted to be able to ride them. In her 40s, Cheryl spine was deteriorating. After surgery, metal plates were installed in her back and she now does physical therapy twice a week. "Everyday I wake up, stay healthy and keep up with my body so I can adapt to whatever situation is needed." Cheryl is working with Certified Prosthetist Sharon Kelly. "I consider her a compassionate friend," said Cheryl. "Sharon is the first prosthetist to ever offer to come to my home. Sharon said that by seeing how I live, she was able to engineer a leg that allows me to live a pain-free life."
