Welcome to NovaCare Rehabilitation in Broomall, conveniently located behind Lawrence Park Shopping Center with access to Route 476 and Route 320.  We work in partnership with Villanova University, Eastern University, Haverford College and Merion Mercy Academy's athletic training and sports medicine teams to ensure their athletes maintain safe competitive play.

We specialize in treatment of all orthopedic conditions, occupational/hand therapy with two certified hand therapists, vestibular and concussion rehabilitation, as well as our post-COVID recovery and reconditioning and cancer rehabilitation program. We strive to provide holistic care catered to the individual.

Our Team

Roxanne Smith, DPT, OCS, SCS, ATC, DAC, CCI, FRCms

Roxanne is the center manager at our Broomall and Ardmore locations. She is also a physical therapist at Villanova University. Roxanne attended Ursinus College and graduated in 2003 with her bachelor's degree in sports medicine. She also received her doctorate of physical therapy from Arcadia in 2003. Roxanne likes to treat ACL, sports medicine post-surgical, orthopedics, concussion, functional range conditioning, Graston, blood flow restriction, telerehab and kinesio taping.

Katie Tota, P.T., DPT

Katie has been working at NovaCare since March 2022. As a physical therapist she treats a variety of patient populations including orthopedic rehabilitation, TMJ, balance and gait training, amputee rehabilitation, vertigo/concussion and post-surgical rehabilitation. Katie received an undergraduate degree in biology and doctorate of physical therapy at Misericordia University. She enjoys running, hiking and yoga. She also enjoys watching her beloved Yankees during throughout their season.

Rosie O'Halloran, P.T., DPT, LAT, ATC

Rosie has been a member of NovaCare since 2019. She has worked in sports medicine, outpatient and inpatient settings. Rosie has a special interest in treating athletes, orthopedic rehabilitation and manual therapy. Rosie earned a bachelor's degree in athletic training at Penn State University and earned doctorate of physical therapy from the University of the Sciences. She is a certified athletic trainer and sports fanatic. Rosie has two puppies and enjoys taking them to the park, shopping and participating in recreational sports including basketball and Ultimate Frisbee.

Paul Stickles, P.T., DPT

Paul has been a member of the NovaCare Rehabilitation team since August 2022. He earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science from West Chester University in 2018 and doctorate in physical therapy from Widener University in 2022. He has treated patients for a variety of orthopedic injuries, post-operative, post stroke, concussion, balance and gait training. Paul uses evidence-based practice and clinical knowledge to develop individualized, comprehensive plans of care to guide patients back to what they love to do. Paul has been married to his wife since September 2021 and enjoys watching sports, reading and being down the shore in the summer. He is a lifelong fan of all Philadelphia and Clemson University sports.

Steve Maze, P.T., DPT

Steve has been a member of NovaCare Rehabilitation since 2019. Steve served as a strength and conditioning coach for organizations such as Drexel University, EXOS and the US Army 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. Steve specializes in treating patients who benefit from orthopedic rehabilitation, sports medicine services, strength and conditioning and lower back injuries and conditions. Steve obtained a bachelor's degree in exercise science from Bloomsburg University, master's degree in sports management from Drexel University and doctorate of physical therapy from Neumann University.

Marissa Plavchak , PTA

Marissa has been working at NovaCare since 2016. She has seen a variety of patients with different diagnosis, such as orthopedic rehabilitation, sports medicine, amputee rehabilitation, concussions and gait training. Marissa completed an undergraduate degree of exercise physiology from Saint Francis University and associate degree in physical therapy assistant from Central Penn College. Marissa is also the patient engagement specialist for the Broomall location and other centers in the region, which she thoroughly enjoys being able to make patients smile. She is an avid bowler and loves golfing with her husband. She also enjoys watching sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins.

Karilyn Kitzinger, DPT, OCS, COMT, DAC, FRCms

Karilyn has been working at NovaCare since 2018. She specializes in treating sports injuries and orthopedic care with a focus on post-operative rehabilitation. Karilyn is a member of our sports medicine team and is a Select Sports Center of Excellence therapist. She is also a board certified clinical specialist in orthopedics and in orthopedic manual therapy. Karilyn treats on campus at Villanova University working with the athletes, students and staff. She received an undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware and doctorate from Western Kentucky University. She enjoys traveling and watching sports, with a true love for anything related to Philadelphia.

Ann Marie Muto, OTR/L, CHT

Ann Marie is a certified hand therapist who specializes in custom orthotic fabrication and is highly experienced in the treatment of the hand, wrist and elbow. She has presented for the company as she remains a current and evidence-based practitioner and a trusted hand therapist. She believes in the art and science of hand therapy to help patients restore their full function.

Samantha Birmingham , P.T., DPT

Samantha is a physical therapist who works full time in the acute care setting and brings a great skillset to the outpatient setting.
