Our Team

Dorothy Lehr, MSPT, DPT, Market Manager

Dorothy is the center manager of NovaCare’s Burlington location and market manager supervising several area centers. With more than 15 years of exceptional patient care to her credit, Dot is an accomplished clinician with a focus on orthopedics. Her true expertise is realized in sports rehabilitation and performance training where she successfully treats cervical/lumbar and shoulder pathologies, brachial plexopathy and a myriad of other injuries and conditions. Dorothy’s hallmark is fully engaged patient care centering on patient education about ergonomics and proper body mechanics to avoid re-injury. Dorothy earned a master's degree in physical therapy in 2005 and doctorate of physical therapy in 2008 from Richard Stockton College.

Carla Bonfitto, DPT

Carla is a physical therapist at NovaCare’s Burlington center and assures exceptional patient care by fully engaging each individual in the rehabilitative process. Carla’s background includes the treatment of patients in acute and sub-acute care and outpatient rehabilitation and sports medicine. Carla is an alumna of Widener University where she earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and doctorate of physical therapy.

Christopher Makai, COTA

Christopher is an occupational therapist assistant and clinical veteran with more than 25 years of experience in the field. Chris has honed hands-on techniques for wrist, elbow and finger fractures and digit amputations, to CTS, trigger finger, nerve palsy and crush injuries. Chris is an alumnus of Harcum College where he was a Dean’s list student and the class president of occupational therapy.

Richard DeWitt, DPT

Richard is a physical therapist at NovaCare’s Burlington center. Rich assures exceptional patient care by fully engaging each individual in the rehabilitative process. Rich particularly enjoys working with orthopaedic patients with patello femoral pain syndrome, shoulder impingement syndrome and low back pain where he has seen noted success. Rich earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Johns Hopkins University and doctorate of physical therapy from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – Rutgers-Camden.

Amy Gardner, O.T.

Amy Gardner is a dedicated professional with a passion for excellence in patient care. With each step in her career, Amy has demonstrated the ability to build a strong rapport and cultivate relationships with individuals of all ages, generations, demographics and socioeconomic status. She is skilled in the comprehensive evaluation and treatment of orthopaedic hand injuries, where she develops and implements each plan of care using evidence based practice to increase her patient’s occupational performance. Noteworthy successes for Amy include the treatment of distal radius fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome, CMC arthritis, finger and tendon injuries, axillary web syndrome and breast cancer related lymphedema. Amy received her master's degree in occupational therapy from Spalding University in May 2020.

Matthew Johnson, DPT

Matt Johnson is a welcomed new member of the NovaCare team, with a focus on quality of life for each of his patients. Seeing each person as more than their diagnosis, Matt takes all the time needed to listen, understand and design innovative treatment plans that meet the desired goal. His noteworthy successes include the rehabilitation of neuromuscular conditions such as stroke, TBI and Parkinson’s, and orthopaedic conditions including total knee replacements, ankle sprains, shoulder and low back pain. On a daily basis, Matt is eager to continue to build on and share his clinical knowledge with those in need and to provide them with the power and confidence to live happier and healthier lives. Matt graduated from Rutgers University in 2020 with a doctorate of physical therapy.

At NovaCare Rehabilitation, we offer physical and occupational therapy from the comfort and safety of your home through out telerehab program. If you are limited by travel, injury or a weakened immune system, we will virtually bring our services to you.

ReVital Cancer Rehabilitation

Cancer patients and survivors often face painful, function-limiting consequences brought on by acute treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation and/or surgery. Cancer rehabilitation can help those individuals regain strength, physical function and the independence they may have lost due to cancer or its treatment.

Hand Therapy

Hand therapy focuses on rehabilitation of the hand and upper limbs and is the merging of occupational therapy and physical therapy theory and practice. Several of our highly skilled therapists go on to become certified hand therapists and are proficient in the treatment of hand and upper extremity conditions.

For our Spanish speaking patients, NovaCare Rehabilitation in Pennsville, NJ is now offering telerehab with a Spanish speaking therapist.  We are offering  therapy from the comfort and safety of your home through our telerehab program.
