Mark Acierno, P.T., OCS, SCS, and his team at Frederick Sport & Spine, joined the NovaCare Rehabilitation team in November 2021. Despite the new name, they are still the same great team your community has known and trusted for years. This unique physical therapy clinic boasts high tech clinical tools such as the AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill and the SwimEx.

Our Team

Mark Acierno, P.T., DPT, OCS, SCS, Center Manager

Mark earned an engineering degree, master's degree and doctorate in physical therapy from Boston University. Mark started his career in California before moving to Frederick in 1997. He successfully pioneered Frederick Sport and Spine Clinics until transitioning to NovaCare Rehab in 2021. Mark's expertise is in sports physical therapy and has a specific interest in shoulder dysfunction and injury. He is board-certified in orthopedic and sports physical therapy. He uses numerous techniques to create a program of release, re-build and re-education to help patients reach their goals. Mark has treated athletes of all levels and from a wide variety of sports. He is certified at Medical Level II thru the Titleist Performance Institute for golf injuries and works with elite soccer and baseball players. He is the proud father of twins, enjoys spending time with his wife and enjoys all sports from afar.

Anna Marie McClain, P.T., DPT

Annie is a high energy dedicated physical therapist who provides excellent individualized care to each patient. Her experience includes working with adult and pediatric populations, particularly with orthopedic conditions and concussion injuries. As a former collegiate athlete, Annie understands the physical demands and requirements of an athlete to successfully compete in their sport. Annie is familiar with the Middletown community as she is a 2016 Middletown High School graduate and was a member of the 2015 MHS Softball State Championship team. She achieved both her undergraduate and graduate degrees at Lebanon Valley College. She is looking forward to getting to know each patient and helping them achieve their goals.

Ashley Kelly, P.T., DPT

Ashley has been a member of the NovaCare team since 2018. In fact, she did her last clinical rotation with NovaCare. Ashley graduated from University of Maryland with a doctorate in physical therapy in 2018. Ashley has worked with pediatric patients from as young as 2-3 months old to all ages including geriatrics. She likes to play soccer and gaelic football and spend time with family including her nieces and nephews.

Jodene Acierno, P.T.

Jodene holds an undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and a master's degree in physical therapy from Boston University. She started her career at Stanford University Hospital in California then continued working for their Home Care Department. Upon moving to Maryland, Jodene joined the staff at Frederick Health Hospital before taking a break from patient care to raise her twins and work as the business coordinator for the physical therapy practices she and her husband owned in Frederick County. hrough the years Jodene has taken many aquatic courses. She brings that skill set to NovaCare Rehabilitation where she works with patients in their SwimEx pool at the Frederick location.

Hali Anderson, P.T.

Hali has been a physical therapist since 1991, receiving a bachelor's degree in physical therapy from the University of Maryland Baltimore. She started out in acute care which included working with TBI, CVA and orthopedic trauma patients. She has gained extensive outpatient clinical experience while practicing in an outpatient orthopedic setting with patients of all ages and diagnosis since 1996. Hali has been dedicated over the years to enhance her clinical skills and learning through a variety of continuing clinical education. She is a certified practitioner of Pilates for Rehabilitation through Polestar Pilates Education since 2002. She has is trained in osteopathic manual medicine techniques and has focused continuing education on courses offered through the Postural Restoration Institute. Hali is committed to delivering a holistic approach and providing exceptional care to patients to assist them in achieving their goals while promoting their health and wellness.

Faryn Dunn, PTA

Faryn received a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University in 2011. After graduating, she became a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Working with individuals with a wide variety of activity levels, and training patients who had residual strength, balance and flexibility deficits inspired Faryn to pursue a career in the physical therapy field. After gaining experience as a physical therapy tech, Faryn attended the physical therapist assistant program at Carroll Community College, graduating in 2015. Her background as both a personal trainer and physical therapy assistant helped prepare Faryn to work with patients with a variety of backgrounds, activity levels, age ranges and rehabilitation goals. Faryn believes in a multifaceted approach to treating patients, using hands-on therapy and specific exercises to improve body mechanics, increase strength, increase flexibility and improve balance in order to return to their prior level of functioning.
