Success Stories

Olivia Nguyen

Olivia Nguyen is an active eight-year-old who competes in volleyball, gymnastics, and kids' triathlons. While playing, Olivia fell off some playground equipment, which led to elbow surgery. The elbow surgery left Olivia with limited range of motion, which prevented her from participating in her activities. That's when she began to see Physical Therapist Alex Humphries and Physical Therapist Assistant Kayla Johnson. Initially nervous to start therapy, Oliva ended up enjoying her time with Alex and Kayla. She wished she could've told herself from the start that "physical therapy is fun!" Together, Alex and Kayla worked on volleyball exercises to improve her elbow extension, used BlazePods and handstands for weight training and performed instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization to increase her range of motion. Thankfully, Olivia is back to her usual self and can play volleyball again. Thank you for choosing us for your care, Olivia.

Darla Botk

After suffering from low back pain for years, Darla Botkin was diagnosed with degenerative disk disorder. She struggled with the increasing pain and limitations in her activities. But a chance encounter changed everything. Physical Therapist Assistant Rhene Baker happened to teach Darla's fitness class, which led Darla to seek care at our center. Darla's main priorities were returning to walking for pleasure and exercising without pain. Through her customized therapy program, Rhene taught her exercises to alleviate pain and prevent it from returning. After a few short weeks, Darla said she's now walking pain-free for short distances and looks forward to reaching more goals as her treatment continues. We're so happy you found Rhene, Darla! Thank you for trusting us with your care.

Braiden Harris

Braiden Harris is a dedicated soccer player, so it was an issue when he hurt his ankle during a game. It became difficult for him to run and kick the ball. The timing of the injury was not ideal; Braiden had a trip with the Kansas Olympic Development Program to Italy around the corner. He knew he had to get help to repair any ankle damage. That's when he turned to Physical Therapist Adam Russell at our center. Adam had Braiden complete drills to prepare him for his soccer trip. This included running soccer drills and using BlazePods for agility training. After two weeks of treatment, Braiden was ready to return to the field. Enjoy playing in Italy, Braiden!

Megan Glanville

Megan Glanville experienced swelling and pain in her right knee. A physician diagnosed her with a medial plica, which is an extra bit of tissue that can cause issues. In Megan's case, this needed to be removed surgically. Megan was referred post-operatively to Select Physical Therapy. Physical Therapist Shelby Corn tailored a treatment program to manage Megan's pain and swelling while retraining her knee musculature for moving, standing and getting down on the floor to play with her dogs. "I felt pretty wobbly and not like myself at the beginning," she said. "Now, I can sit cross-legged on the floor easily and it feels really good to sit comfortably again!" We are pleased to her you are getting back to normal and playing with your pups, Megan. Thanks for choosing us on your rehabilitation journey.

Megan Krug

Megan Krug knew something felt "off" after the birth of her son. She was experiencing issues with her pelvic floor so she turned to Physical Therapist Anne Clark for pelvic health therapy. Megan happily shared, "Starting pelvic floor PT was the best decision I could have made for myself following the birth of my son. I wish I would have started two years sooner! I saw significant change in the issues I was having in eight short weeks and have the tools necessary to help me through any issues going forward." Megan also shared, "If something doesn't feel right postpartum, it probably isn't. Go see Anne! I am truly grateful to have been able to seek this care and be well on my road back to "normal" in my postpartum journey!" We are thrilled Megan has entrusted us with her postpartum physical therapy needs.

Ashtyn Carus

Ashtyn Carus was referred to our Derby center by her doctor for pelvic floor-related issues. She's been working with Anne Clark, pelvic health specialist, to help her improve her health. Ashtyn shared, "At first, I was nervous and felt like I would stand out. After a couple sessions, everyone was supportive and nonjudgmental. Ann was always understanding, made me feel comfortable and even helped me find my own mental health therapist. It was a weight off my shoulders. I have not met my goals quite yet, but...I see it is possible." Thank you for trusting us for your care, Ashtyn!
