    NovaCare Rehabilitation at Centre Park Drive provides high quality outpatient physical therapy services focused in orthopaedic care. All five of our physical therapists are educated at the doctorate level with varying specialties and training in orthopaedics, manual therapy, functional movement assessments, sports injuries, vestibular rehabilitation, dry needling, disability work assessments, functional capacity evaluations and work conditioning programs. We also specialize in biomechanical analysis utilizing dorsaVi wearable sensor technology to assess and prevent sports injuries in all athletes, both competitive and recreational.

    We proudly offer group and individual athletic training services through Shropshire Sports Training by owner, Mark Shropshire, M.S. Mark focuses on a functional fitness approach with personalized training programs based on an initial evaluation. He has extensive credentials, including a master's degree in human performance, a bachelor's degree in corporate and community fitness and certification in strength and functional movement screening.

    Michael Wetmore, P.T., DPT, OCS, CSCS, CMTPT
    Michael Wetmore
    Michael Wetmore graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and has been a member of NovaCare Rehabilitation's Centre Park Drive team since 2010. He is a board certified clinical specialist in orthopaedic physical therapy (OCS) and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). Dr. Wetmore utilizes this base of knowledge and biomechanical perspective to develop individualized and corrective exercise programs designed to return his patients to their maximal functional capacity. Additionally, Michael has taken extensive coursework in dry needling. He takes pride in educating all of his patients to the fullest extent. Michael utilizes several movement analysis systems to assess and correct functional movement including 3D wireless sensor technology (DorsaVi), selective functional movement assessment (SFMA) and original strength. Michael serves as the Howard and Montgomery County Sports Medicine 'champion' for Novacare Rehabilitation, helping to develop and grow the sports medicine program in the central Maryland area. Michael has a passion for treating athletes from youth and recreational athletes to professional teams including Minor League (AA) Bowie Baysox and National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Washington Spirit.
    Ashley Romm, P.T., DPT, CMTPT
    Ashley Romm
    Ashley Romm graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and joined NovaCare Rehabilitation in 2013. Her treatment approach is very comprehensive and individually designed to meet the patients' specific needs and goals. She takes a "total body" approach when treating, not focused purely on symptoms but identifying and correcting the underlying issues contributing to the symptoms. She believes in using manual therapy techniques in combination with exercises, functional training and proper patient education in order to return patients to their maximum level of function. Dr. Romm has specific interests in spinal and lower extremity injuries and enjoys working with people of all different ages. Ashley has been training to perform functional capacity evaluations (FCE) and has been certified through Myopain Seminars to perform trigger point dry needling.
    Sarah Mellman, P.T., DPT
    Sarah Mellman
    Sarah Mellman graduated from Rutgers University with a doctor of physical therapy degree in 2014, and she joined the NovaCare Rehabilitation team in 2015. She earned her bachelors of science degree from Rutgers University in exercise science in 2010 and has a passion for the health, wellness and fitness industry. Sarah utilizes a combination of manual therapy techniques in conjunction with functional exercise treatments to provide her patients with the best care possible. She emphasizes patient education and strategies to maximize return to function and prevention of future injury. She is also trained in biomechnical analysis using the DorsaVi wearable sensor technology to assess and treat patients and athletes more effectively. She has a special interest in treating running athletes, but enjoys working with all competitive and recreational athletes. She participates in the sports medicine program through NovaCare Rehabilitation to provide personalized injury prevention programs to running athletes. Sarah plans to become a board certified orthopaedic specialist in the future.
    Claire Rhoades, P.T., DPT
    Claire Rhoades
    Claire Rhoades grew up in Indiana and received her doctor of physical therapy degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 2015. Following physical therapy school, she spent two years at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, CA where she focused on neurological rehabilitation and performed ergonomic assessments with her CEAS I certification. She is passionate about patient care and assisting her patients in reaching their goals while still having fun in therapy. Claire prefers to take a whole body approach to therapy by not simply identifying the patient's symptoms but also taking the time to tease out the patient's movement system impairments. Since working at NovaCare Rehabilitation, Claire has received her level 2 trigger point dry needling certification with plans to complete the final level coursework in the spring of 2018. She looks forward to working with you!
    Grace Han, P.T., DPT
    Grace Han
    Grace Han grew up in Howard County, MD and received her doctor of physical therapy degree as well as her masters in anatomy and clinical health science from the University of Delaware. She earned her bachelor of science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland in College Park. Grace's clinical experience includes working in outpatient sports and orthopaedic, specifically with high school athletes, outpatient neurology and geriatrics, pediatrics, inpatient acute care and inpatient acute rehabilitation settings. She has worked with individuals of all ages and cultural backgrounds, but is especially interested in working with athletes and the active population to help them return to what they love to do. Grace believes in the importance of individualized one-on-one treatment and uses a combination of manual therapy, functional exercises and analysis of whole body movements in order to help patients meet their rehabilitation goals. Grace plans to become a board certified orthopaedic specialist and pursue further educational opportunities regarding treatment of musculoskeletal disorders, manual therapy, dry needling and concussion/vestibular management.
    Susie Snyder, P.T., DPT
    Susie Snyder
    Susie was born and raised in New York City. She earned a bachelor's degree in 2003 from Cornell University and doctorate of physical therapy in 2007 from Touro College. She has been practicing outpatient orthopaedic physical therapy since that time and has worked and managed physical therapy centers in New York and Florida. She has worked with athletes, weekend warriors, geriatrics and young adults. She has experience treating various surgical and non-surgical orthopedic conditions. Susie moved to Columbia, MD in April 2019 and is excited to be a part of the NovaCare team. She grew up figure skating and skiing and is still active in winter sports. She has a genuine passion for helping others and feel fortunate to be a physical therapist.
    Joshua Schwartz, P.T., DPT, CSCS
    Joshua Schwartz
    Joshua earned a doctorate of physical therapy in 2019 from the University of Maryland, Baltimore and bachelor's degree in biology in 2016 from Dickinson College, where he was a member of the varsity football team. At Dickinson, he won the Lloyd W. Hughes male senior student-athlete of the year award for success in both athletics and academics. Joshua is a certified strength and conditioning specialist and plans on becoming an orthopaedic clinical specialist. He uses a total body biomechanical treatment style, consisting of functional exercise and manual therapy techniques to assist patients in reaching their ultimate rehabilitation potential. Joshua has a passion for sports medicine, as he enjoys treating youth, high school, collegiate, professional athletes and the active population.
