“I was initially inspired to be a speech language pathologist following my experience as a child when I received speech language pathology for not correctly pronouncing the letter ‘s’. Helping parents and children communicate better and strengthening their family because of improved communication has made it apparent I made the right career choice. It’s extremely motivating that I have a daily opportunity to touch the lives of families through the care I provide and by providing support to my staff and fellow speech pathologists.”

Today’s edition of #MyMotivation is courtesy of NovaCare Kids Pediatric Therapy’s Laura McQuade, M.A., CCC-SLP, center manager for the North Aurora, IL location and lead speech pathologist for our Chicago pediatrics team. Laura holds specialized training as a specialist in P.R.O.M.P.T. (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Phonetic Targets); a program designed for helping children with apraxia and like disorders. In her role, Laura’s main responsibilities are developing and growing the speech language pathology department.
