HOMERUN FOR MYRTLE BEACH AND COASTAL CAROLINA UNIVERSITY

Our Myrtle Beach market is excited to announce its partnership with Coastal Carolina University in Conway, SC. The Select Physical Therapy team was selected from a field of competitors to provide Physical Therapy services to the student athletes at Coastal Carolina University. CCU is a dynamic, public, liberal arts institution with more than 9,000 students and has a nationally competitive NCAA Division I Athletic Program.

Effective January 2012, Samantha Martel, Colleen Volpe and Kevin Bullard (Center Managers in our Myrtle Beach market) will be treating student athletes on the CCU campus in the newly renovated Field House. We are eager to become engrained with the University and the Community. We look forward to becoming a positive influence within the Athletic Training Department at CCU and to providing continued excellence of care in the rehabilitation of their injured athletes.

Program Offering

Post-Offer Employment Testing (POET): also called Physical Abilities Testing, Pre-placement Testing, Physical Demands Testing and Worker Selection Testing. The goal of these testings has always been to hire individuals physically capable of doing the job, excluding stereotypes and/or medical conditions, as these are NOT good indicators of the candidate's ability to do the physical tasks of the job.

Recovery Program: Upon injured workers meeting short term goals, but are unable to Return to Work (RTW) due to ongoing functional deficits or de-conditioning, they may benefit from a higher level of therapeutic intervention designed specifically with a primary goal of returning to work. With Select Physical Therapy, we offer Work Conditioning, which is an intensive, work-related, goal-oriented conditioning program. The primary objective of the Work Conditioning Program is to restore physical capacity and function to enable the injured worker to return to his or her pre-injury job.

Functional Capacity Examinations (FCE): provides an objective and comprehensive evaluation of an individual's ability to perform essential work functions. The FCE is an important tool used to assist employers, physicians, insurance companies, attorneys, case managers and vocational consultants determine

Ergonomic Vehicle Evaluations: vehicle evaluations conducted on employees that help their employer assign them the appropriate vehicle. The evaluation consists of the Clinician taking standardized anthropometric measurements, making recommendations about the most appropriate seating position, educate employee on body mechanics for transfers and moving material equipment in/out of vehicle and evaluating the appropriateness of current vehicle assigned based on measurements, employee history, and complaints.

For more information on any of these programs, please call 866-554-2624 or email us at Referrals@selectmedical.com

AfterCare Exercise Program/Fitness Program: an Independent Program designed for discharged patients that enables them to continue working toward their goals in a familiar environment for up to six months. Although direct supervision from the staff is not provided, we are always there to help and assist.
