    Center Activity
    Patient Appreciation Day and Physical Therapy Month
    All of the Southern Illinois NovaCare centers celebrated National Physical Therapy month in October along with a patient apprecation day. Our centers offered cookies and apple cider along with several educational flyers for their patients. A NovaCare stadium blanket and sweatshirt was raffled off at each of the centers as well. Happy National Physical Therapy month to our physical therapists and thank you to all of our patients for choosing NovaCare!

    United Way School Supplie Donation
    This year the Mt Vernon NovaCare staff collected school supplies in conjunction with the United Way.  The United Way provided the decorated box for the collection and will be distributing the school supplies to the local schools in the Mt Vernon area.  Thank you to all of those who donated!

    NovaCare Rehabilitation is excited to begin our third year with the Johnston City Indians. Athletic training services for Johnston City High School are provided by Justin Northcutt, ATC. Go Indians!
    West Frankfort Redbirds
    NovaCare Rehabilitation has also been providing athletic training services for West Frankfort High since the mid-90s. Services for the Redbirds are provided by Abbey Cook, ATC. Go Birds!
    Morthland College
    NovaCare Rehabilitation recently expanded its services with Morthland College in West Frankfort, IL. Athletic training services are provided by Head Athletic Trainer Justin Northcutt and Athletic Trainer Abbey Cook. Go Patriots!
    Roller Derby Girls
    NovaCare Rehabilitation provides athletic training services for the Southern Illinois Roller Derby Girls. Services are provided by Dayne Willmore, ATC. Good luck, ladies!
    Hamilton County Foxes
    NovaCare Rehabilitation is excited to announce the addition of Hamilton County High School in Mcleansboro, Il. Athletic training services for the Hamilton County Foxes is provided by Josh Ice, ATC. Good luck to all of the teams!
    Sesser-Valier High School
    The Southern Illinois NovaCare team is excited to be the Official Sports Medicine Provider for the Sesser-Valier Red Devils this year.  Dayne Willmore, ATC will be the Head Athletic Trainer for the Red Devils. Good luck to all the Red Devil athletes!
    Programs We Offer
    Vestibular Rehabilitation Certification

    NovaCare Rehabilitation is pleased to announce that three of its local physical therapists in Southern Illinois successfully earned their certification in vestibular rehabilitation through the American Institute of Balance (AIB). This certification is awarded for demonstrating exceptional proficiency in advanced clinical treatment of patients with vestibular and equilibrium system disorders. The three physical therapists are: Joshua Anderson, DPT, Jill Lisk, MPT, and Todd Vaughn, P.T., DPT, M.S., OCS, MTC, CSCS.

    Mr. Anderson treats patients at NovaCare West Frankfort, located at 502 West St. Louis Street, Suite 5, and has more than 10 years of health care experience. He earned his bachelor’s degree in health care management from Southern Illinois University and doctorate of physical therapy degree from the University of Findlay.

    Ms. Lisk treats patients at NovaCare Mt. Vernon, located at 4110 South Water Tower Place and has more than 20 years of health care experience. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Evansville and has participated in numerous continuing education courses throughout her career.

    Mr. Vaughn treats patients at NovaCare Marion, located at 1306 North Atchison Avenue, and NovaCare Carbondale, located at 1316 East Main Street. He has more than 23 years of health care experience and an extensive educational background. Mr. Vaughn earned his doctorate of physical therapy degree at the University of St. Augustine, master’s degree in rehabilitation administration from Southern Illinois University, bachelor’s degree in physiology from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and bachelor’s in physical therapy from New York University. He is an orthopaedic certified specialist, certified manual therapist and certified strength and conditioning specialist.

    AIB is the leading diagnostic, treatment and educational research center in vestibular and equilibrium sciences. In order to pass the certification, therapists are required to complete extensive hours of advanced instruction and hands-on training techniques in vestibular anatomy and physiology and equilibrium sensory integration.

    "The commitment to completing certification in balance rehabilitation is immense, and NovaCare Southern Illinois is proud of these physical therapists in their achievement," said Brian Beal, PTA, market manager for NovaCare Rehabilitation. "These physical therapists are a talented group, and certification sets them apart in their therapy skills and individualized treatment plans. Patients can expect to have amazing outcomes in their care."
