Select Physical Therapy participated in the annual Bobcat Scorcher, a 5K held in Bluffton, SC to raise money for Bluffton High School's Cross Country and Track teams. Our local staff assisted runners by demonstrating correct stretching before and after the race. We also offered kinesiotapping to stabilize and prevent further injury for the runners. The event had a great turnout and we are looking forward to next year's run!
We would like to share a compassionate letter written by a patient, who after receiving great care by our therapist, Erika Walton, wanted to express his gratitude.
"I fell off a ladder in late 2014. A five hour surgery in January 2015 successfully repaired the broken shoulder and torn rotator cuff. Palmetto Primary Care and Tricare coordinated, then chose Select Physical Therapy, Goose Creek, South Carolina for my rehabilitation regime.
Mrs. Erika Walton rehabilitated my reconstructed shoulder in 31 sessions from 23 March- 30 June 2015.This past Wednesday, July 1st, was my seventh and final post-surgery x-ray and office visit with my surgeon Dr. Jay De Marco (Roper Saint Francis, Charleston, S.C.). Last month Erika Walton asked to meet at Dr. De Marco's office for my final examination. The surgeon, his assistant Danielle, and their in-house therapist, Reni were all impressed by Erika's therapy skills when they observed and measured my regained strength and range of motion; near 90%. More notable though they were impressed by Erika. When Dr. De Marco greeted her, he smiled and said,"So,.. proud of your results, huh ?" She should be,I am.
Both Erika and Dr. De Marco are professionals, justifiably proud of their skills and I was lucky to land in their talented hands. How often does a physical therapist take the time to meet a surgeon to exchange ideas, discuss progress, and plan the optimal way forward for a patient? Never, I bet.
You "pick up" a lot after visiting a health care clinic (yours) dozens of times. Here's what I saw: Besides mastery of physiology and therapy skills Erika is the heart, brain, and soul of your Goose Creek facility. She smoothly guides multiple patientstherapies, gently manages the interns,& resolves patient and therapist schedules, assists colleagues with their computer problems and does it all with a smile.
I was a US Navy surface warfare officer. My sea service was spent aboard six ships. I had four US Embassy assignments(Germany, Brazil, Chile, and the Dominican Republic) and served on the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the Pentagon as well as the Office of Naval Intelligence and for the Defense Intelligence Agency in Latin America. I share my experiences only to establish my bonafides and assure you I've met talented professionals.Erika Walton is not just a talented professional, she's a superstar and agem.
She should be commended for my case, but more importantly, should be immediately selected to a position of greater responsibility and authority within your corporate hierarchy. What she does now, she does easily. She's capable of much more. As an admiral once told me, "You don't pay a juggler to juggle one ball". Come time to expand or restructure your fine organization, remember the name Erika Walton.
Warm regards and trusting you are well,
I remain, Sincerely.
R H Belser III (Commander, USN, ret.)"
