NovaCare is proud to announce that Eric Johnson, P.T., DPT, OCS, successfully passed the national board examination to become an Orthopaedic Certified Specialist (OCS). This award is the highest offered by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) to those who demonstrate exceptional proficiency in the care and management of orthopaedic injuries.
In order to pass their board certification, clinicians are required to complete extensive hours of training in the area of orthopaedics. The additional training ensures comprehensive knowledge of orthopaedic and musculoskeletal dysfunction, with a focus on the most up-to-date understanding of orthopaedic surgical interventions and rehabilitation.
In addition to having this professional designation, Johnson has more than four years of experience and is adept in treating many conditions and injuries. Johnson has also completed specialized training in the Graston Technique, which has shown to be effective in treating muscular and connective tissue injuries and conditions. He is a graduate of Ohio University and currently treats patients at NovaCare’s Hilliard location at 3207 Hilliard-Rome Road.
NovaCare Columbus is pleased to announce it is now offering extensive concussion treatment and symptom management. A concussion is an injury to the brain that is caused by a bump, blow or jolt to the head and may result in a loss of consciousness or less obvious symptoms such as memory loss, lack of cognitive skills or balance issues. Concussions can be caused by falls and car accidents—or any other situation where the head receives a sudden jolt—but a majority of concussions are sports related.
If a person loses consciousness, has trouble breathing, complains of neck pain, weakness or numbness, or is having a seizure, this is a medical emergency and you should call 911 immediately. If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with a concussion and need further treatment, please contact the center closest to you.
NovaCare is also proud to offer complimentary continuing education classes to Certified Case Managers, Certified Disability Management Specialists and Certified Rehabilitation Counselors in the Columbus area.
