The NovaCare Columbus Team participated in the 2015 American Heart Association Central
Ohio Heart Walk on Saturday, August 22, 2015. Team NovaCare joined more than 30,000 people to support a cause near and dear to all of our "hearts". The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s premier fundraising event and opportunity to educate our community about their greatest health threats and
our nation’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers – heart disease and stroke.
We feel passionately about raising funds in support of the association’s mission “to
build lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke”. We also feel it is important to promote a healthy lifestyle with our associates, families, friends and customers, and the Heart Walk reminds us that there are many cardiovascular risk factors, like diet and exercise, that we can control.

Ashley Eibling, P.T., DPT was recently certified
in the LSVT BIG treatment which helps patients with Parkinson's
disease improve and maintain movement and quality of life.
LSVT BIG is an intensive and complex exercise program that is held four times per week for four weeks and specifically trains limb and body movement. Research has shown significant improvements in speed and balance in the upper and lower limbs and quality of life. In addition, patients were able to maintain these gains after the four week session ended. This specific protocol, compared to
typical therapy programs, optimizes learning and carryover for better
movement into everyday life! It is never too early or late to begin!

NovaCare Columbus is pleased to announce it is now offering extensive concussion treatment and symptom management. A concussion is an injury to the brain that is caused by a bump, blow or jolt to the head and may result in a loss of consciousness. Less obvious symptoms such as memory loss, lack of cognitive skills or balance issues may also arise. Concussions can be caused by falls and car accidents—or any other situation where the head receives a sudden jolt—but a majority of concussions are sports-related.
If a person loses consciousness, has trouble breathing, complains of neck pain, weakness or numbness or is having a seizure, this is a medical emergency and you should call 911 immediately. If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with a concussion and need further treatment, please contact the center closest to you.
NovaCare Rehabilitation offers a comprehensive concussion/post-concussion management program with specially trained experts who provide individualized concussion evaluations and rehabilitation services for children and adults. We perform post-concussion testing, interpret results and communicate with your physician to safely return an individual to activity.
NovaCare is also proud to offer complimentary continuing education classes to Certified Case Managers, Certified Disability Management Specialists and Certified Rehabilitation Counselors in the Columbus area.
